This site is designed to help you to handle the practical and emotional problems encountered at the time of the bereavement. Bereavement is one of the constants in all our lives, and yet when it comes, we are so unprepared for the problems it brings.

Death is something we rarely wish to talk about, so that when we lose a loved one, we need the support, help and caring attitude of those, who with years of dealing with funeral arrangements, can offer us the best possible advice and direction in our time of grief. We believe that it is best left in the hands of an established, caring, family firm.

Clement McGough & Sons, established for more than fifty years in Tunstall, is one of the few independent family funeral directors in Stoke-on-Trent, and in that time have been proud to serve all denominations in the communities of North Staffordshire and South Cheshire, always having family values at the heart of a caring business.
Tim McGough (Business Manager) with his wife Jayne, and their two daughters Geoargina and Sophia.

Grieving is a healing and a very natural process. In life we have loved the person now deceased and our grieving at their passing is a continuation of our expression of that love in a very deep, meaningful way, calling our deepest emotions into play. It is a natural process and it is important that we allow ourselves to experience it fully.

Children too should be allowed to grieve. If children are old enough, they should be made aware of approaching death and when it occurs, they need to express their love through grieving.

Grieving is a healing process and our natural journey through its various emotions will in time help us to a gradual return to our normal life and work, and while our sense of loss will never entirely disappear, it will diminish. Family, friends and the local community will understand our time of grieving. Their understanding and their care for us can be extremely comforting. They should be allowed to comfort us for they too are grieving for someone they too loved in life and they are grieving for our sense of loss.
